Lance D. Sandage has over 20 years of criminal defense experience, handling a variety of cases, from theft to sex crimes to multi-million dollar federal fraud cases. In some cases, a trial is the best way to bring resolution to his client’s legal issue. Lance has considerable jury trial experience in both state and federal courts. Lance has also represented many clients under criminal investigation where the matters were resolved without the filing of official charges.
Lance has long been recognized for his work in white collar and general criminal defense. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Top Attorney since 2008, been honored by the Kansas City Business Journal’s Best of the Bar six times, and has been named as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers. Lance is past president of the Criminal Law Section of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.
Lance is also one of a select group of lawyers in the Kansas City area who is qualified to represent individuals charged with capital murder in federal court. Lance was co-counsel in a federal capital jury trial where the jury returned a unanimous life verdict. Lance has led two other defense teams in successfully convincing the Department of Justice not to seek the death penalty against their clients.
Lance is a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. He returned to Kansas City after law school to practice law with his father. When not in a courtroom or his law office, Lance likes to spend time with family and play golf.
